About Kim

Kim is a Graduate Gemologist and Accredited Jewelry Professional (GIA). She holds graduate diplomas in Pearls, Colored Stones and Diamonds (GIA), along with certificates in Pearl and Bead Stringing (GIA).

Her educational background provides a strong foundation for her expertise as a jeweler, jewelry instructor and freelance writer. See Kim’s full resume. (PDF, 13KB)

Kim’s first love is jewelry design. This passion is followed closely by her enthusiasm for teaching and writing about gemstones and the craft she adores—making standout, high-quality jewelry.

Meticulous in every aspect of her work, Kim’s jewelry lines have been carried in Mariposa Gallery, Santa Fe, NM, as well as select California retail stores. Kim currently designs and produces one-of-a-kind and limited edition jewelry pieces for artisan events held in and around the picturesque mountain communities of Lake Arrowhead, CA.

Kim has been teaching jewelry classes since 1995—specializing in beginning-to-advanced wirework and stringing techniques, handcrafted chains, jewelry design essentials, pearls and colored stone fundamentals.

In 2006, Kim took a sabbatical from teaching to devote time to her work as a jeweler and freelance writer. In 2010, she started her company, Untamed Spirit®. Then, two years later, Kim opened her Etsy Shop offering an ever-growing collection of artisan-crafted components, hand-selected jewelry supplies, designer kits and project-based lessons.

Balancing her many passions, Kim began teaching classes again in 2014.

It is my sincerest hope that my body of work inspires you to learn more,
